CHAMBER BACKS SMALL BUSINESS COMMISSIONER BILL

Mid North Coast NSW Business Chamber has called for bipartisan support for the NSW Government’s Small Business Commissioner Bill 2012 that will empower the Commissioner to help small businesses.

The NSW Business Chamber has been a vocal advocate for the creation and empowerment of a NSW Small Business Commissioner and included the role as a key plank in the Chamber’s pre-election 10 Big Ideas to Grow NSW campaign.

“I’m very pleased to see such strong support for the role of the Small Business Commissioner and a keen enthusiasm to help our 680,000 small businesses in NSW by the NSW Government, Opposition and the Greens who have all introduced bills into the parliament,” said Kellon Beard, Mid North Coast NSW Business Chamber Regional Manager.

“We believe the NSW Government’s Small Business Commissioner Bill 2012 is the right bill for the parliament to support and I encourage bipartisan support for the passing of this legislation that will empower the Small Business Commissioner to act on behalf of the small business community.”

Mr Beard said the NSW Business Chamber had been closely involved in the public consultation on the NSW Government’s Bill and believes it introduces the right mechanisms to support the Small Business Commissioner in the role as an advocate for the sector.

“The NSW Business Chamber will be writing to the cross bench members of the parliament to express our support for this Bill and encourage them to pass the legislation.”
