What a fantastic night of celebration! Over 200 guests helped celebrate this year’s Great Lakes Business Awards 2011 at the Tuncurry Bowling Club. It was a great excuse to get dressed up and party.

The night was a celebration of local excellence with the best of the best being honoured for their hard work and success. There was plenty of excitement all round, but particularly when everyone was informed of the two winners for Excellence in Marketing. The judges had debated fervently and were unable to reach a decision on one winner, so decided to give two businesses the accolade. Overall the majority of categories were extremely competitive and it was very difficult for the judges to pick the winners.

Free Spirit Cruises stole the show with three winning categories including the highest honour of all, Business of the Year 2011. This was so well deserved, Peter Mannow of Free Spirit Cruises is passionate about the Great Lakes, tourism & the environment. If you take a trip on his boat you will really understand what I mean. Forster Tuncurry Foreshore Master Plan - Extension to Exhibition Period PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator    Wednesday, 15 September 2010 11:19

The Forster Tuncurry Chamber of Commerce held a discussion forum recently for interested members of the business community to come along and assist us in forming a representative view about the proposed Forster Tuncurry Foreshore Master Plan.

The meeting was very well attended – in fact, there were over 80 attendees. The main focus of the meeting was to allow us to gain an insight into the views of the business community, however many of the people present were residents who simply appreciated the opportunity to ‘have a say’ on the proposals.

The Chamber would like to thank everyone who attended, in particular the business people who came along or who have already provided comments to us to allow us to develop a submission which we feel is representative of our members.

What became very apparent from the discussion forum was that there are many residents in the local area who are not aware of the plans or who feel that they have not been adequately consulted.

In order to assist the local community in getting their views across, the Chamber wrote to the LPMA requesting that the exhibition period for the Masterplan be extended and we am very pleased to inform the community that this request has been approved and the exhibition period extended for a further two weeks.

The Chamber also suggested that there be more effective publicity about the proposals as well as further opportunities for the public to discuss any concerns they may have and a revised program of community engagement has now been announced.

For more information about the upcoming meetings and your opportunity to comment please click here. To view the plans please visit the LPMA website.
